Why you are the best in the Portrait and boudoir photography What about your competitors?

There are different types of photographers.
Boudoir Photographer
Wedding photographers, who are more reporters and work in natural light, outside very often.

Headshot photographers, for actors, passport photos and corporate photos. Theses photos need to be very simple, simple basic light, generally window light or one strobe.

Boudoir: Often, a lot of moms who love photography and doing this as a hobby in their own apartment with a window light. Sometimes one light, but rarely in a professional environment, and with amateur makeup or hair stylist.

Wedding photographers, headshot photographers or photographer enthusiast often do boudoir too.

Fashion photographers worked with professional advertising agencies. Their client expectations are really high. The light should be sophisticated, the poses refined. They work with magazines, catalogs, and a very big team, for the post-production, makeup, hair, artistic direction…

I think I am one of the very few fashion photographers, who do boudoir […]

How start your photography business – Part II

Is social media is important for your business?

Boudoir Photographer_2

Well I am sure it is important when you know exactly what to do,
If like me you are not an expert, you do it all and see what works.
When you are a celebrity, of course, you have tonnes of followers, you can communicate, share ideas etc…
When nobody knows you because you just opened your photos studio, it’s more complicated.
I tried, Facebook ads, a complete waste of money, seriously it’s been a few years and did not get a client from them. After you paid to get real people who like your page, you must now pay for to have your post viewed by all your audience, otherwise only a small portion of them will see the posts

Linkedin is a professional network, not really where people will search for photography services, except maybe headshots. […]

How start your photography business – Part I

Photography Business

The website:

First, you need a website, for that look at all the boudoir website you find, pick one who you like the most for the layout of the site.

You need to have a lease 10 boudoir images, the best of the best, it’s not about the quantity but about the quality, you don’t put all your photos in your gallery but only the best one. Theses photos need to be clean, retouched, and represent your style.

You need to be somewhat different from your local competitors.

To create a website, you can either use services like people on square space, Wix or Weebly, that offer templates to personalize, add-ons for creating a checkout process including payment processing and the service could range start at $25 per month for just a splash page.

Or you can choose a popular platform like WordPress that […]

Should I go naked?

LNA

Who are these nude photos for exactly, which photographer should I turn to, how should I get ready? Lots of important questions to ask yourself. There are lots of photographers in New York and you do not want to find yourself naked, in uncomfortable positions, in front of a stranger who’s getting an eyeful. Or even to have the feeling of being at the gynecologist office in uncomfortable poses. There are certainly some poses to avoid that will already know, legs too wide apart, finger in the mouth, mouth too open … so, not getting confused between vulgar and sexy is clearly essential.

Make-up too, is very important. Too much and you’ll quickly look like a stripper. Nude photography is very delicate, romantic, sensual and sexy too. From the very beginning, you have to have the will to do it, to achieve […]

My Lighting

Timmy Woods

The lighting in a photo is the most important of all. It’s true also that the team is there for everything else, hair styling and make-up, styling and so on, since this is a team job. But let’s speak today about lighting.

The identity of the photo comes with the lighting, the photo can be simple or indeed sophisticated, natural or dramatic, it all depends on the orientation that we give it.

Light helps also quite well to highlight the face; it can erase any imperfections and give your skin either a warm glow or cold stare should we desire it.

The use of shadow can give more character to the image, whereas light without shadow can be soft, be careful not to make things look too bland and commercial. There are several professional brands of lighting designed to better sculpt the perfect […]

10 TIPS TO GET READY FOR A BOUDOIR PHOTO SHOOT

 Photo Boudoir Lingerie

We don’t all have our photograph taken every day, and much less often without many clothes on (if you choose a boudoir shoot).

So here are 10 things that you can do to get ready before your photography session, both for the night before and the day itself.

SKIN

1)   Think ahead about hair removal perhaps and also about all the things that could leave your skin with blemishes (have a facial maybe) at least a few days in advance. You know your skin, try and make sure therefore that it won’t be sensitive on the day of the shoot.

2)   If it’s summer, avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun during the days before your shoot. The tan-lines from swimming costumes tend to show up when you’re in your underwear.

Don’t worry about it if on the […]
